Mr. Bernie Nelson, Director of Service Development at Hughes Network Systems, along with Rick Nelson, Principal Wireless Engineer at Florida Power and Light, will discuss modern satellite technologies and how they uniquely enable AMI collector backhaul, distribution automation, enhanced substation connectivity, mobile workforce connectivity and mobile command centers. The discussion will include when, where, and how to best apply satellite solutions in grid modernization efforts. After this session, attendees will be armed with information they can use as part of their SmartGrid technology evaluation process as it relates to AMI, distribution automation, substation connectivity, mobile workforce connectivity, and disaster recovery preparedness.
